THE FINAL EXAM IS A
CLOSED-BOOK, CLOSED-NOTES EXAM AND WILL COVER CHAPTERS 1-15.
Please be prepared to answer questions from any of these chapters.
There will be 60 Multiple-Choice and 2 essay questions. You will
have 2 hours to complete the exam. You should bring your driver’s
license or passport, Coastline ID, a #2 pencil and a pen to the
test site. All other testing materials will be provided. You may
also bring a calculator to the exam.
The final examination is worth
200 points or 25% of your course grade.
SCHEDULING ALTERNATE EXAMS
Students who cannot make it to the official test date can schedule
alternate exams through the distance learning website at http://dl.coastline.edu/.
After you have accessed the site, click “Schedule Alternate Exams”
on the right side of the screen to schedule your exam for a
different date. Please do so as early as possible in the semester
since the alternative testing dates tend to fill up quickly.
ESSAY QUESTIONS (2)
(40 POINTS TOTAL / 20 POINTS EACH)
Essays should be AT LEAST THREE PARAGRAPHS LONG and should
include GRAPHS and EXAMPLES. Be sure to include as
much information as possible for each question and completely
address all of the issues included in the essay topics. Make sure
your graphs are properly labeled and fully explained. **Please do
not just write a list of definitions but a fully developed essay
that discusses the concepts included in the question.
You should be prepared to write
essays about the following topics. The instructor will select 2 of
the following 4 topics for the final exam:

Discuss expansionary fiscal
policy and the tools the government uses to stimulate the
economy (3 tools). Be sure to include aggregate demand and
supply curves to explain the effect of a fiscal stimulus.

Discuss the multiplier effect
and its impact on the economy. Be sure to discuss the
consumption function and the circular flow of income and
expenditure.

Discuss monetary policy and
the tools the Federal Reserve uses to stimulate or restrain
aggregate demand.

The economy of Bobangoland is
growing at an unprecedented pace and has exceeded its full
employment equilibrium. What should the government of
Bobangoland do to prevent inflation?
**There will be an extra credit
essay on the examination.

HOW TO STUDY FOR THE EXAM

Online quizzes have proven to be extremely helpful in studying
for the multiple-choice part of the exam. The online quizzes
will familiarize you with the general structure and type of
questions that will be on the exam. Past students have told me
that the online quizzes were very useful in helping them prepare
for exams.

If there is something that is not totally clear, it is always a
good idea to work with another person to try and understand a
concept.

REVIEW THE CLASS EXERCISES
AND QUIZZES!!
You never know, some of those questions may show up on the exam.

STUDY EVERY DAY FOR THE
EXAM!!
Do not wait until the last minute to cram for the exam. If you
do, chances are you will fail the exam. The more you review the
course material, the more you will understand and remember the
information that you have learned.

WRITE OUTLINES AND COMPLETE
ANSWERS FOR THE ESSAY QUESTIONS!!
This will help you remember the information you have learned. It
will also be easier for you to organize your essay when you take
the exam.

GRADES
As stated on the syllabus, the instructor will NOT e-mail grades
to the students for privacy reasons. If you want to have your
grade mailed to you after your exam has been graded (approximately
one week after the final exam), please provide me with a
self-addressed stamped envelope/postcard at the final examination.
(You can also mail it or drop it off at the distance learning
center).
