English 022-3
"Making Subjects and Verbs Agree"

Course Overview:

You may have noticed that in English, verbs must agree with their subjects, and pronouns must agree with their antecedents. In this course, you will learn about how to these make words agree in a sentence. When you complete Making Subjects and Verbs Agree, you should be able to:

  • Make a verb agree with a subject in number.

  • Make a verb agree with a collective or compound subject.

  • Make an irregular verb agree with a subject.

  • Make a verb agree with an unusual or hidden subject.

  • Make a pronoun agree with its antecedent in gender, case, and number.

  • Avoid common errors that can result from the incorrect subject-verb agreement and pronoun-antecedent agreement.
