Write a short introductory paragraph and send to Professor Taylor by
the end of the first week of classes via the Discussion Forum located on the

Student – Student Discussion Forum. Take a moment to learn
how to write and access a message. Then
send a short paragraph introducing yourself to Professor Taylor.
Do this no later than the end of this week, and Professor
Taylor will write back to you. You may also respond to other
students’ messages.

You will be
reading and working your way through each assigned chapter.
Therefore, read the Reads, complete the Recaps and Replays as you
come to them, and grade your Recaps and Replays with answers shown
in Appendix E, page 385. Mark your answers using blue or black pen.
Write neatly. Write in your book.

Complete and
grade the Read and Replays in the text. Correct your errors using
red pen.

Proofreading for
Careers: Print the proofreading exercises for all chapters. These
are located on the website. Use red pen or
pencil and proofreading marks shown on back cover of text to
mark errors. Grade your proofreading by comparing your copy with
Proofreading Answer Key on course website. Place corrected
proofreading exercises for each chapter in your notebook. Type final
proofreading document, print, proofread again, and place in your
notebook.

Take the Practice
Quiz in your text and grade using the Practice Quiz Key on the
course website.

A and B on-line. You will be asked to set up your password first.

Read ALL of the instructions
below carefully prior to attempting to take your exam.
- You DO NOT need
a proctor.
- You will have 2
hours to complete this exam.
- You must SUBMIT
BEFORE the limit has expired, even if you have not completed
all the exam questions. If you do not, you will be locked out
of the exam, and you will not be able to retake it.
- This exam may only
be submitted once.
- You will need to
enter your 8-digit student ID number as your user ID and the
4-digit course section number as the password. The 4-digit course
section number for Summer 2007 English 105 is 9761.
- Please make sure
your internet connection will remain constant throughout the
testing period.
- Please be sure your
firewall and security settings allow access and submission of

Complete the Special Assignment, pages 249-250. Follow these steps:
First insert
commas and end-of-sentence punctuation in the 35 sentences; think of
the rule before inserting the comma. Some apostrophes are also needed.
Write C beside four-five sentences that don't require commas or
apostrophes.
The second
step is to TYPE each sentence with commas and apostrophes shown, or
TYPE "C" in front of correct sentences.
The third
step is to
e-mail this typed document
to me by Saturday of this week before midnight. Use Your Name, Special

FINAL EXAM:
Begin
your week by reviewing for the Final Exam. The final exam has 100
questions, 25 bonus questions, and two documents to proofread. Each
bonus question you answer correctly adds ½ point to your test score.
There are no deductions for bonus questions you answer incorrectly.
Each proofreading document contains many errors. The proofreading
portion of the exam offers 20 possible points.YOU
MAY NOT
TAKE THE TEST UNLESS YOU BRING YOUR DICTIONARY, NOTEBOOK, RED PEN, AND
TEXTBOOK.
The
final exam covers Chapters 1-12 and 14. You may use your
dictionary. No late final exams will be given. Please make
arrangements with me if you need to take the exam early.
