After reading this chapter, students should be able to:
- Define stress and stressors.
- Differentiate between eustress and distress.
- Differentiate between physical and psychological stressors.
- Describe the three stages of the general adaptation syndrome.
- Describe the physical changes that occur in response to stressful
situations.
- Explain how stress can affect the mind and body.
- Describe various positive and negative ways of coping with stress.
- Identify three stress reduction techniques.
