Fourteen web site critique reports. Seven of these will be due one week before the midterm examination; the other seven, one week before the final examination. Late reports will receive only half credit. No reports will be accepted after the final examination.
Any combination - but not to exceed 40 points. Due date: one week before the final examination. If turned in between due date and final. examination: one haft credit: No reports accepted after the final examination.
A. Term paper. (up to 25 points).
Topic: United States and NATO. After 9-11, NATO is making an effort to meet the needs of a new age and an aggressive U.S. foreign policy. Examine the challenges to NATO. And how can NATO become an effective anti-terror institution?
(a) On how to approach research and the writing of the research paper.

Note:
- The research paper must between 7-10 pages in length - double spaced - normal margins -spell-checked - 10 or 12 font - footnoted - and with a bibliography of no less than ten varied sources. Do not cite textbooks or encyclopedias
- Turn in your research in two ways: (a) hardcopy and (b) in a digital form (floppy disc). Your research paper will be submitted to http://turnitin.com - a software program to check for any signs of plagiarism. If you plagiarize your paper, you will be dropped from this class with an "F" grade and the Dean of Student Services will be notified.
B. Museum/Presidential Libraries (up to 15 points each).
Use the Museum/ Presidential Library Critique Forms for your analysis. For those outside the LA area, contact Dr. Wrobel for related museums in your area.

C. Movie. Saving Private Ryan (up to 10 points).
Use Movie Critique Form.
Two essays will be given: midterm and final. Grading is not based on a curve. Your grade will be based upon points. You will not be competing against each other for these points.
Two essay examinations: 200 points (100 points each).
Active participation - throughout the semester on the panels : 15 points. Fourteen websites: 140 points (10 points each).319-355 = A

The Family Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 restricts release of certain student information, such as grades. Therefore, please do not call the Testing Office for your final scores/grades. Grades can be obtained by calling (714) 438-8249 approximately three weeks after the conclusion of the semester. Grades are no longer mailed to students.
