These reviews should be approximately 3 pages in length and should
reflect your emerging ability to think and write critically about films.
Each review will be worth 50 possible points and should cover the
following aspects of the film:
First: Describe the content
of the movie: its story line, main characters, conflict,
theme.
Second: Describe cinematographic techniques and special effects
you observe.
Third: Discuss aspects of American history and American culture
expressed by the film.
Fourth: Describe your personal reaction to the film.
Papers submitted will not be returned.
If the work you submit has serious flaws, Dr. Windsor will contact you
by email.
B. Scene Descriptions
The purpose of this assignment is to confirm that you have completed
your home viewing of the six films that are not reviewed. Write only one
paragraph for each film, 75 – 100 words each. The paragraph should
contain:
1. A brief description
of the scene you have selected.
2. A brief explanation of how the scene relates to the
movie as a whole. This may be in terms of action, character
development, or theme.
Submit the 6 paragraphs as a group to Dr. Windsor on or before
Friday of week 7. Do not send them individually before the
due date.
Papers submitted will not be
returned.
