What is the difference
between Internet, CD-Rom, Telecourse, and Cable course?
Internet courses have a
syllabus to follow, quizzes are submitted online; students come in
for midterm and finals, or are proctored. For this course, the
final examination will be taken on-line. CD-Rom courses have
content delivered predominantly on CD-Rom. Telecourses are
broadcast on KOCE or Coastline’s cable channel. Students follow
the dates in the course handbook and turn the required work in by
the due date. Quizzes are submitted on Scantron, and students will
come in for midterms and finals. Cablecast courses are available
to local students who have a local cable connection. Videolessons
are aired on the Coastline cable channel only. Courses on cable TV
follow the same outline as telecourses.

I live really far away, do I
have to come in and take my midterm and final?
Students, who do not live in
the Los Angeles area, Orange County, or the surrounding area, may
submit a proctor agreement form by mail. This form is due in the
Distance Learning Department by the end of the second week for
16-week classes, and the end of the first week of the term for
8-week classes. The proctor must meet the criteria specified on
the form. The proctor will be mailed the exam(s) and administer it
to you. The Distance Learning office does not accept faxed copies
of this form.

midterm on the date that is scheduled in my handbook, what should
I do?

available. However, it is the student’s responsibility to contact
