After reading this chapter, students should be able to:

- Understand the influence of a population that is growing older on community, planning and

- Recognize new options in long-term care for frail elders and services to help elders
remain independent in the community.
- Describe new technology for community-dwelling elders.
- Explain the housing policy affecting older adults, including SRO housing and the
homeless.
