STARTING CLASS

All course types
A confirmation from Admissions will be sent to you approximately two weeks after submitting and paying for registration. The confirmation is your official notification that you are enrolled.

Please do not wait for this confirmation to get started in your course work. Class websites are available approximately one week before the start of the course.

Telecourse and Cablecast Courses
Purchase the Student Handbook and course text materials selected for your Distance Learning course(s) at the Coastline Bookstore or online at www.coastlinebookstore.com. Instructions needed to complete the course are in the Student Handbook. Student Handbooks are available for Telecourse and Cablecast courses online at the course websites (be sure you access the correct course website as some classes are available in more than one format and the material is different).

Once you have the Student Handbook, start familiarizing yourself with it. Student Handbooks contain all reading and course assignments, instructor office hours and telephone number, PLUS at-home quizzes. The midterm and final examination dates are posted in the course assignment sheets. Read the "FAQ's", "What You Should Be Doing At This Time", "Welcome Letter From the Instructor", and "Course Overview" right away. Submit the Proctor Form (if not a local student) and Letter of Agreement as soon as possible.

Review broadcast dates and times. If your course has multiple viewing dates, choose the channel you receive. Most students set their VCR to tape their Telecourse or Cablecast lessons for viewing at a convenient time. If you are not a local student, and don't have access to the telecourse braodcasts in your area, or via sattellite, then you need to order the course videos as soon as possible to ensure their arrival before the beginning of the class.

You may need to purchase Scantron forms (available at the bookstore or online at www.coastlinebookstore.com) for quizzes. Check the Student Handbook for details. Students are required to provide their own envelopes to mail quizzes and assignments to their instructors. You may also take quizzes online (see the course website).

Visit the course website regularly for any errata, changes, notices, or additional information.

For questions about course content, grades or expectations, please contact your instructor. Contact the Distance Learning Dept. for general questions. Several options are available for technical help.

You may wish to purchase the Student Handbook, HOWEVER, your instructions and assignments will be online.

The class websites contain all reading and course assignments, instructor office hours and telephone number, and quizzes. The midterm and final examination dates are posted in the "Course Overview" or "Syllabus". Read the "Welcome Letter From the Instructor", and "Course Overview" or "Syllabus" right away.
