Software and Plug-in Downloads
Coastline Community College is committed to making every document on
it's public website available to all audiences, including the
visually impaired, those with limited mobility, and those who are
working with slower computers, browsers and modems.
Many
distance learning courses require special "plug-ins" to make your
browser function correctly. This page contains many of those
required downloads for your convenience. All of these
downloads are free.

With Microsoft PowerPoint viewer,
you can view PowerPoint presentations without having PowerPoint
installed on you computer. |

Virtual Machine (JVM) |
| Some
Windows operating systems (XP and beyond) did not include the
Java Virtual Machine. This program allows a user to view
and interact with JAVA Applets and JavaScripts. If you do
not have this program active, you may find that some active
webpages have blank boxes with a red X
on them. Use the test link below. If you see
scrolling text on the right, your JVM is working fine. |

| Many Coastline courses utilize Windows Media audio and video files. To download the player, click "Download" below. Install the executable file by selecting RUN. |

| Enable JavaScript in Microsoft Internet Explorer |

- Open Internet Explorer. (Fig.1)
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- On the Security tab, click Internet.
- Click Custom Level. (Fig.2)
- Scroll down to Active scripting.
- Click Enable (or Prompt). (Fig.3)
- Click OK.
- Click Yes.
- Click OK.

- Open Firefox. (Fig. 1)
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click on the Content icon. (Fig. 2)
- Check the box next to Enable JavaScript. (Fig. 2)
- Click the Advanced button to open the Advanced JavaScript Options box. (Fig. 2)
- Check the boxes under Allow scripts to section that you want to allow. (Fig.3)
- Click OK.
- Click OK.

- Open FireFox. (Fig.1)
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On Content -> Check the box next to Block pop-up windows (Fig. 2)
- Click the Exceptions button to open the Allowed Sites - Pop-ups. (Fig. 2)
- On Address of website: Type http://coastline.edu
- Click Allow. (Fig.3)
- Type http://seaport.coastline.edu
- Click Allow. (Fig.4)
- See image on the left (Fig.5)
- Click Close.
- Click OK.

Determine which Version of Internet Explorer
- Open Internet Explorer (IE6 or IE7)
- Click the Help menu, then click About Internet Explorer.
- Directly under the Internet Explorer title is the version number
- If you didn't see the Menu Bar show up on your IE browser
- Right click on blank area (Fig 4) -> select Menu Bar
Determine Which Version of FireFox
- Open Mozilla Firefox
- On the Menu Bar, select Help -> About Mozilla Firefox. (Fig 5)
- Directly under the FireFox title is the version number (Fig 6)

- Under the “Tools” menu, click “Internet Options” (Fig.1)
- Click the “Privacy” tab
- Click the “Advanced” button (Fig.2)
- Check mark in the box for “Override Automatic Cookie Handling”
- Check in the First-party cookies: Accept
- Check in the Third-party cookies: Accept
- Check mark in the “Always accept session cookies” box.
- Click “OK” (Fig.3)

- Select the Privacy tab.
- Check mark to "Accept cookies" field.
